A Mexican tourist is recovering after a recent shark encounter near Costa Rica’s legendary Cocos Island National Park. The diver, a man in his 40s, sustained injuries to his scalp and face during a dive at Roca Sucia, a well-known dive site, located approximately 100 feet (30 meters) below the surface.
The Incident and Rescue
The incident occurred midday on a Saturday while the diver was exploring the vibrant marine environment. Reports indicate that, in addition to his injuries, the shark damaged the diver’s air hoses, necessitating a rapid ascent to the surface.
